Vintage Luxury

Vintage Victorian style & luxurious modern amenities await at the Van Dusen House, in one of the oldest neighborhoods on the West Coast. The entire property underwent a 9-month intensive restoration project in 2022 to stabilize and preserve this historic treasure. Today, the home is rented to one party at a time, so your group can experience Astoria like one of its founding families.

Built over 135 years ago as a showpiece by the pioneer Van Dusen Family, the home was sold outside the family after WWII. By 2021, the property had been neglected & went into foreclosure. That's when the current generation of the Van Dusens lovingly brought it back to life. Today, we are thrilled to share The Van Dusen House as a space for family & friends to re-connect in a warm, welcoming environment that provides the home base for Oregon Coast adventures of all kinds.

Guest Reviews

My husband and I decided to take our adult children for a vacation in Astoria and when looking for a place big enough to accommodate nine people, the Van Dusen House was on the list. We are so glad we chose this beautiful home! The home looks just like the pictures, it was very clean, and well equipped. I especially loved sitting on the front porch in the morning and feeling the cool breeze coming in from the water. It was very peaceful! The backyard has a lovely gazebo to enjoy also. The home is close enough to walk to the main streets and the pier. We enjoyed walking and seeing the beautiful homes and met some wonderful locals. Unfortunately, the airline lost our luggage and when I informed Trudy of this, she was very gracious and offered the washer and dryer for our use. By the way, Trudy is a great host. She is very responsive and checked in with me to see if we needed anything. I highly recommend staying at this stunning home!

“We had the BEST time in Astoria and loved our stay at the Van Dusen house. The home was so clean and easy to find and easy to enter. We loved hearing the history of the home and the decor and antiques in the home. There was plenty of space for us all with very comfy beds and all the amenities that we needed. I would totally recommend this home to anyone visiting Astoria.”

“Trudy was responsive from the start, even when I was trying to finalize the number of guests and the arrival time over a month out. I could not have asked for a better experience or location for my first Air BnB rental. The home is pristine, old, and amazing. Lots of history here, and the remodel/updates are perfect. Upstairs bedrooms are all wonderfully themed around color, and have both a mini fridge and microwave per room. Can't wait to come back to Astoria to explore and hang out, if I have more than 2 people with me, this is the only place I am going to stay!”

“This home is truly amazing and the owner is great in communication and follow up. The home is gorgeous and located perfectly in Astoria to walk into town, boardwalk etc. Private parking is a bonus along with plenty of street parking. The kitchen is outfitted for all your cooking needs and every sitting room is comfortable and relaxing to enjoy everyones company. Backyard has a gazebo with fire-pit to enjoy a glass a wine or coffee with friends and family, also have a BBQ and Blackstone for outdoor cooking desires. Highly recommend and we will be back soon!”

“The house is a classic Victorian, beautifully restored with vintage furniture and original architectural details. She told us it was built by her family originally and she bought it back to restore it to its original state - such a cool story. Every single room upstairs had an adjoining bathroom! There are multiple seating areas on the first floor, all with stunning furniture and super high ceilings. It feels like your cool rich aunt is hosting you. They even provided a pack and play and high chair. The only thing to watch out for is that it's located on a steep hill, but lots of Astoria is. It's located very centrally in town and we loved being able to walk to all coffees and meals. We were scrambling for a place last minute and happened to take a chance on it (our original booking was in Skamania, WA and would have been way too hot) and have absolutely no regrets. For a group of 5 adults and one 2 year old, it was perfect.”
